Best way to handle a 6-8 hour layover at Heathrow (LHR)?

I have a medium-length layover coming up in London through Heathrow and I am trying to decide whether to stay airside or build a simple routine around food, a walk, and a solid reset.

The upside seems to be massive route choice and many lounges. The downside is security lines.

If you had this same stop in Europe, what would your actual playbook be?

LHR is one of those airports where a medium layover can feel great if you choose one goal and stick to it instead of stacking too many mini-plans.

I would decide based on whether massive route choice is what you care about most, because once security lines kicks in the stress rises fast.

My rule for a 6-8 hour stop is one main activity, one decent meal, and a very conservative buffer back through security.

If you are even slightly unsure, I would bias toward a calm airport routine and save the city run for a longer layover in London.
