Best way to handle a 6-8 hour layover at Sydney Airport (SYD)?

I have a medium-length layover coming up in Sydney through Sydney Airport and I am trying to decide whether to stay airside or build a simple routine around food, a walk, and a solid reset.

The upside seems to be easy city access and strong domestic/international connections. The downside is strict timing on re-entry.

If you had this same stop in Oceania, what would your actual playbook be?

SYD is one of those airports where a medium layover can feel great if you choose one goal and stick to it instead of stacking too many mini-plans.

I would decide based on whether easy city access is what you care about most, because once strict timing on re-entry kicks in the stress rises fast.

My rule for a 6-8 hour stop is one main activity, one decent meal, and a very conservative buffer back through security.

If you are even slightly unsure, I would bias toward a calm airport routine and save the city run for a longer layover in Sydney.
