How do you survive an overnight layover at Barajas?

I have an overnight connection coming up at Barajas and I want to avoid the usual pattern of a bad meal, terrible sleep, and feeling useless on arrival.

The airport seems promising because of rest-friendly airport services, but I know terminal train confusion can still make the stop much rougher than expected.

What would you pack, book, or prioritize to make an overnight in Madrid actually manageable?

My overnight kit is always the same: eye mask, earplugs, toothbrush, charger, backup snack, and one layer that makes bad air-conditioning less miserable.

If rest-friendly airport services is real at MAD, I would build the whole stop around rest quality first and food second.

The biggest overnight mistake is pretending you can improvise sleep once you land. Pick the rest plan before the first flight even departs.

Even a mediocre hotel or sleep pod can be worth it if the next day in Madrid matters at all.
