Would you book a connection through ATL on purpose over a tighter routing?
I am comparing two itineraries and one of them connects through Hartsfield-Jackson with a longer stop.
The appeal is high frequency schedules plus easy domestic connections. The hesitation is assuming domestic timing translates to international timing.
Would you intentionally route through Atlanta if the total trip time was a bit longer but the layover quality looked much better?

I would absolutely choose ATL on purpose if the airport quality meaningfully lowers the chance of a chaotic connection day.
The best itinerary is not always the shortest one. Sometimes the calmer hub is worth far more than the saved hour on paper.
That said, if assuming domestic timing translates to international timing is tied to the season or the exact bank of flights you are using, I would model that before committing.
A longer routing only wins when the extra time actually buys comfort, flexibility, or a better recovery window.
