Would you book a connection through LIS on purpose over a tighter routing?

I am comparing two itineraries and one of them connects through Lisbon Airport with a longer stop.

The appeal is quick city reach plus easy food-focused stopovers. The hesitation is traffic on the way back.

Would you intentionally route through Lisbon if the total trip time was a bit longer but the layover quality looked much better?

I would absolutely choose LIS on purpose if the airport quality meaningfully lowers the chance of a chaotic connection day.

The best itinerary is not always the shortest one. Sometimes the calmer hub is worth far more than the saved hour on paper.

That said, if traffic on the way back is tied to the season or the exact bank of flights you are using, I would model that before committing.

A longer routing only wins when the extra time actually buys comfort, flexibility, or a better recovery window.
