What do you double-check before a transit stop in Hong Kong?

I have a connection through Hong Kong and I am trying to build a clean pre-flight checklist for transit rules, terminal movement, and whether I can safely consider going landside.

The airport seems strong on excellent lounge quality, but I worry about underestimating return buffer time if the day goes off-script.

What are the non-obvious checks you always do before committing to a transit plan here?

I always verify transit visa requirements, landside eligibility, terminal layout, and the last realistic time I can start moving back toward security.

Even if HKG is usually efficient, one unusual queue or document check is enough to flip the whole experience.

I also check whether any train, bus, or terminal transfer step has reduced late-night frequency because that is where easy plans break.

The safest mindset is to assume the simple version of the stop wins unless you have a very clear reason to push harder in Hong Kong.
