Getting Around Los Cabos

Transportation from SJD is primarily handled by authorized airport taxis and pre-booked shuttles. While Uber is available in Los Cabos, pickups at the airport can be restricted to specific areas outside the terminal. For a budget-friendly option, the 'Ruta del Desierto' (purple and yellow buses) runs along the main highway connecting the airport area to San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, though it requires a short walk from the terminal to the highway bus stop.

Make Every Minute Count

Layover Time Management Guide

With a 2-4 hour layover, it is best to stay within Los Cabos Airport (SJD). Enjoy the outdoor terrace or the VIP lounge in Terminal 2. If you have 4-8 hours, take a taxi to San José del Cabo (15-20 minutes away). You can explore the Art District, grab tacos at La Lupita, and walk around Plaza Mijares. For layovers exceeding 8 hours, you can venture further to Cabo San Lucas to see El Arco and the marina, but keep in mind that the drive takes about 45-60 minutes each way depending on traffic.
